Last Sea Day Before Bermuda with photos, mostly food!

 Saturday, November 25, 2023

As usual I'm up in the dark and have the internet to myself.  This has worked out pretty well. I also realized that if I really want to see the back of my head, I have a phone for that! (Giggle)

It will be a while before anyone else is up, so I'll have time to check my mail and do the Times' puzzles!

It's yet another sea day, so no need to rush. When everyone's ready we head for breakfast in Savor or maybe it's Taste.  They are identical and just across the hall from one another.  Today I have the spinach, mushroom, and onion omelet.  It comes with potatoes and I order a side of crispy bacon.  Then comes the surprise.  They are even out of tea in the dining rooms! But the hot chocolate tastes like my French grandmother's, so that's pretty delightful.

It's a completely free day.so Ginger and I go up to Deck 16 and sit in the sun and wind for a while. I'm working on my Christmas card insert and getting the photos down to a reasonable umber is really, really hard! Eventually we wander back to the room, out of the afore mentioned sun and wind (and exhaust fumes).  Nick is already there and we all do our own thing until Nick leaves for his trivia competition.  He didn't ask me to go and I wasn't volunteering!!

When it's over he comes back and we head for lunch at the buffet. I enjoy being able to sample bits of this and that, so I'm happy.  I can also control my portion sizes which is becomes ever more important as the trip winds down.

One of my totems!

See? Doesn't even fill the plate!  And lots of veggies!

Back to the cabin for a long nap.  Nick is still coughing pretty impressively and he has graciously shared.  I've been popping Airborn like crazy and have managed to beat back the incipient sore throat, but the cough lingers.

When I wake up, it's seven and time for dinner!! There I choose hearty beef broth, sautéed beef tips stroganoff and lemon créme caramel with violet crystal sablée.  I leave the bits of vegetable, beef, and noodles in the broth and most of the stroganoff.  But the créme caramel is light and lovely and will sit well on my tummy.  I'm hoping that smaller portions and no alcohol will have a positive effect on my digestion.

The noodles don't bend!

Barely any mushrooms or sour cream.  This will spur me on to making my recipe when I get home!

This, however, was perfection!

After dinner we spend an energizing couple of hours singing along with Howl at the Moon and then it's time to crash.  The venue is pretty full when we arrive but we find three seats together in the back.  As people begin leaving we are able to move up and there's even a couple dancing in the front!

We actually get to get off the ship tomorrow in Bermuda, although we have to be back by three.  Maybe they will retrovision, but most people doubt it.  Did I mention that they've run out of coffee!  Coffee drinks who are deprived of their drug of choice are not happy campers!!  Can't wait to see how breakfast goes!!

Going Home
